FHE ~ Laser Mania

We have been trying to make some last family memories with Jordan before he leaves for 2 years so, for family home evening we went to Laser Mania. This was kind of a make-up thing, because we were going to go skiing on Saturday, but Jordan got sick. Laser Mania was SO much fun!! The whole family stayed and played one round (about 20 minutes) but Jordan and I stayed for another 2 hours. The game; The point of the game is to shoot the other people with your laser. If your laser hits there chest, shoulders or gun, then their gun turns off for about 5 seconds. At the end of the game, who ever shot the most people wins. Jordan of course beat all of us. But I did come in second!!
Lets start this game!

Brett and majorly tall Jordan. I think this is the cutest picture ever...

Civil War Re-enactment

I got to go to this thing that some kids in my school participated in where you re-enact the civil war for 2 days and one night. It was SO amazing, and SOOO cold!!! We got awesome uniforms, but they were extremely itchy... Under my uniform, I was wearing 4 layers. A tank top, shirt, sweater AND a big fluffy coat, and yet I was still freezing!!! Some things we did; washed LOTS of potatoes for dinner and breakfast, did a bunch of dishes in freezing water, wore funny hats, march around learning drills, learn how to load and fire a gun with gun powder, use a bayonet, we also had to get up for shifts during the night to "keep watch" I had to get up from 12:00 to 12:30. It was cold!! We had to march around camp for 30 minutes carrying 12 lbs. guns. Trying to keep warm, while we eat our dinner. Here is what our breakfast looked like. Not very yummy. I gave mine to the fire...

These are the tents that we had to squish 2 people into. And my tent we had to squish 3 girls all in. We stayed up until 12:00 and then we couldn't fall asleep until 2:30. We also had to wake up at 5:00. So I got a total of 2 and a half hours of sleep that night. Oh and they don't even count, because we would wake up every half hour to try and pull the blankets up. *notice also that there are no ends so the cold wind could blow in... It was in the low 30's that night.* In the morning, we all huddled around the fire and TRIED to get warm.

It was so much fun to learn how to shoot a gun, but they were LOUD and HEAVY!! I could barely lift them high enough to aim them to the sky, not to mention that when you pulled the trigger you had to use 2 fingers.
Over all, it was WAY fun, but I was glad to get back home, and sleep in a WARM bed.
